The Macabers Investigate the Barber Paper Mill

Another investigation completed by The Macabers.

The Macabers consist of myself (Raquel Sandz) Matt Miller, Caleb Buys, Kawtar Lahnissi and Simon Lepkovich.

This time we made our way to Georgetown, Ontario where we combed the grounds of the Abandoned Barber Paper Mill in search of the unexplained. We didn't witness anything firsthand, however weird, unexplainable noises were definitely heard... although some in our crew beg to differ.

Let's start with a bit of the history of The Barber Paper Mill.

The now-abandoned Barber Paper Mill is located in Georgetown, Ontario, along the Credit River. It was built in 1854 and was North America's first electrical-generating paper mill. It was originally owned by the Barber brothers(Joseph, Robert, William, and James) eventually it was sold to the Provincial Paper Company which had mills in Thorold, Milleroches, and Port Arthur.

The Provincial Paper Company continued to operate until March 31st, 1991 when it was closed permanently.

Today, it is the attraction of photographers, videographers, investigators, and thrill seekers like ourselves! The Macaber.

On April 3, 2023, we made our way to The Barber Paper Mill to investigate whether or not there is any sort of paranormal activity as there are claims of sightings of Robert Barber one of the original owners of the Mill roaming the property. There are claims that James Barber can be heard having conversations as well as seen in pictures around the many windows on the property. Armed with flashlights, phones, and an energy-reading device, we roamed the property searching for evidence of paranormal activity or any unexplainable presence at the mill. I heard bangs and thuds(although Matt begged to differ)

I felt the presence of something around us and there was a moment when I heard a sound and when I turned back to see what it was I caught a glimpse of a white figure down the hall just behind the wall.

Nobody saw it but me. Matt said it was just Caleb dressed in a white bed sheet playing tricks on us, however, I disagreed, because Caleb was just in front of us seconds before so there was no way he could have run down that dark, dingy, wet, slippery hall in time to put on a white sheet and do that, therefore in my eyes it was a presence taunting us and could not have been debunked. There was one picture that I had taken that looked like there was some kind of entity in it that was definitely not there when I took it. I'm not sure how it could be explained considering I was the only one in the dark dungeon-like room at the time.

In conclusion to our investigation, our visit to the Barber Paper Mill was an interesting one. Full of surprising visuals and art around every corner you turn. It's no wonder that people from all walks of light are attracted to it. As for the Macabers, well, it's on to the next adventure. As investigators of the paranormal, there will always be another sight to be investigated and another question to be asked. Whether we find an answer or not and whether you believe or not, is yet to be determined. Our mission is to always be there to help put those questions at ease or prove that not everything can be explained. As for Matt and I, we strive to put our differences aside and usually just agree to disagree.
